ARCHITECTURAL REGISTER
Sand-toned concrete, bronze mesh and shaded courtyards are embedded within a sandstone fold to minimise the house on the horizon.
Serein Dune is embedded within a sandstone fold outside AlUla, almost invisible from the approach. A narrow shaded passage leads below the natural ridge before the house opens unexpectedly to a long water court and an uninterrupted view across the desert floor.
Rather than rely on a glazed façade, the architecture uses depth, shadow and carefully positioned apertures. The principal salon, dining room and library are held between thick sand-toned walls, with bronze screens filtering afternoon light and drawing patterned shadows across the floors.
Six suites form two private wings, each oriented toward a distinct rock formation or enclosed garden. The principal suite includes a stargazing terrace, open-air bath and a quiet study carved deeper into the slope. Guest rooms can operate independently during smaller visits.
Environmental performance is integral to the experience: earth sheltering, thermal mass, solar energy and water recovery reduce demand while making the house comfortable throughout the year. Serein Dune offers rare seclusion without turning the desert into scenery alone.
